The Pearly Story Behind "Dusting in Pearls"

I always feel like a walking paradox. I can get out in the garden with my shovel and sledgehammer and love every dusty dirty minute I'm out there. I spend the majority of my life dressed in my "grubbies". Yet there's a part of me deep down inside that still likes "the frillies", "the pearlies", and "the sparklies"--all the pretty things. Maybe it's all the great classic Hollywood movies I watched as a kid. I don't know. All I know is that I can be dirty and sweaty and still want to put on heels when it isn't practical; buy the prettiest apron even if it will get dirty; and don pearls when all I'm going to be doing is dusting and vacuuming the house. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't have to. I've decided to claim it, celebrate it, and have fun with it... and create some "pearly" goodness along the way.

Pretty and Practical

I recently discovered the Gloveables line of aprons and fashionable rubber gloves and think they're so smart! All of you know I'm a sucker for polka dots and pink which is a big plus. But the aprons are also made of oilcloth! That means I could wear this when I'm potting plants or in the kitchen. And I'd be in polka dots for either activity. I can't help but love that!

And don't forget that Gloveables also makes these adorable matching rubber gloves to wear when you want to doll up AND do housework.

Fancy Pantz Designs for the Diva

I've recently discovered Fancy Pantz Designs and have got to share! Barbara Worhatch designs some wonderful pretties for women who are (in her words):

"...the Hostess with the Mostess, the Domestic Diva, the Queen of the Kitchen, or... lucky enough to Have it 'Maid'.

I have to say that just visiting the Fancy Pantz website is a treat for the eyes. I won't spoil the fun by telling you what she's got in the header... I'll just say that you've got to see it.

Take a look at some of my favorite designs that Barbara has showcased there...

Too bad the kitchen is Hubby's domain or I'd have a better excuse to ask Santa for some of these. Do you think I could get away with wearing the "Very Vogue" gloves out in the garden? Maybe if I offer to do the dishes more often, Hubby will relinquish some of his domain and Santa will be good to me this year.

The Maiden Voyage of "Dusting in Pearls"

I can't think of a better way to start out this blog than by featuring some cute and sassy rubber household gloves that make housework a little more colorful and lot more stylish. Chick Lingo has a great selection of gloves (one set even has a matching apron).
